A seasoned traveler who has explored all 197 countries worldwide has shared his experience of the most perilous destination he encountered, where he was advised against venturing outside. Drew Binsky, a 34-year-old travel enthusiast, has dedicated the past decade to visiting every nation and documenting his adventures on YouTube, where he boasts 5.7 million subscribers and has garnered over one billion views. In a recent video titled “Top five places where I felt the most unsafe as a traveler,” Binsky identified Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, as the most dangerous location he has visited. He characterized the city as “miserable,” citing a complete absence of rules and laws, and highlighted the presence of Al-Shabab, an extremist group affiliated with al-Qaeda, which contributes to the region’s instability and danger. Binsky elaborated on the extreme precautions necessary for safety, explaining that each time he left his hotel, he required a convoy flanked by military personnel in bulletproof vests, armed with AK-47s, to scout the area before proceeding. In addition to Mogadishu, Binsky listed Conakry in Guinea, Kandahar in Afghanistan, Port-au-Prince in Haiti, and Tripoli in Libya as other cities where he felt particularly unsafe. He described Conakry as his least favorite destination in West Africa, recounting an unsettling experience where he was stopped by police shortly after walking for less than ten minutes, and he also found himself caught in the midst of a coup during his visit.
