Recently, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Modi approved the proposal of the Ministry of External Affairs to sign the Migration and Mobility Agreement between the Governments of India and Italy. According to the new agreement, students studying in Italy can stay in Italy for one year even after completing their studies. Apart from this, Italy has also decided to allow 12,000 non-seasonal and 8,000 seasonal Indian workers to work in its country.

The move will help address the shortage of skilled workers in Italy and provide better employment opportunities to Indian workers abroad. This agreement is being considered beneficial for both the countries. This will increase cooperation between India and Italy in the fields of education, culture and labor and will benefit the people of both countries. Along with this, new opportunities will open up for Indian students and workers in Italy and Italy will get a new source of skilled workers and talents. This important agreement was signed by Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra and Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani. Both the leaders described the agreement as an important step to strengthen the relations between India and Italy.
An official statement from the Indian side said, “The agreement will enhance people-to-people contacts, promote mobility of students, skilled workers, business people and young professionals and cooperation between the two sides on issues related to irregular migration.” will strengthen.” This Agreement will remain in effect for a period of five years and will automatically renew, unless terminated by either signatory. The agreement implements the current Italian visa system including provisions for post-study opportunities, internships and professional training.
